2021 Call for Applications for Young Professionals Programme

UNESCO invites the Governments of all Member States to submit nominations for the 2021 Young Professionals Programme.

The Young Professionals’ Programme (YPP) aims at bringing in young professionals improving the geographical representation of the Organization and enriching and diversifying the UNESCO staff. This programme provides talented, highly qualified university graduates and young professionals from non- and under- represented Member States the opportunity to join UNESCO at the early stage of their professional career.

Eligibility

  1. Nationals of non-represented or under-represented Member States of UNESCO, as of May 2021.
  2. Thirty-two years of age (maximum) as at 31 December 2021, e. born on or after 1st January 1990.
  • Holding an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent), with a specialization or a major in the following areas:

Education, Culture, Communications, Social and Human Sciences, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, Law, International Relations.

  1. Fluent English or French. Knowledge of both working languages would be an asset. Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish would be an additional asset.

Besides the above criteria, the selection will be based on the Organization’s core values of integrity, professionalism, respect for diversity and commitment to UNESCO’s mandate and to the wider UN system. An initial professional experience would be an asset but is not mandatory.

The selected candidates will be appointed as UNESCO staff members on a regular fixed-term contract at P-1/P-2 level. Assignments may be either at Headquarters or in a Field Office. The renewal of their contract will depend on the evaluation of their performance during the first 9 months probationary period. 

The Young Professionals will be accompanied throughout their assignment and are provided relevant orientation and training.
