NEW CANADA-CARICOM SKILLS TRAINING FOR THE GREEN ECONOMY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Member States are asked to take note of the announcement of the New Canada-CARICOM Skills Training for the Green Economy Scholarship Programme. This Programme is now available to students from CARICOM Member States, who are pursuing certificates, diplomas and associate degrees in disciplines related to climate change and resilience building.

Facilitation for the Green Economy Scholarship Programme is being made through international collaboration and student exchange agreements between publicly-funded Canada colleges and institutes and post-secondary institutions across CARICOM Member States offering Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET).

The launch for scholarship applications is slated for January 2021 and below are further details about the Programme:

  • Programme Name: Canada-CARICOM Skills Training for the Green Economy Scholarship Programme.
  • Funding Organisation: Global Affairs Canada.
  • Target Audiences: Students at the certificate, diploma and associate degree levels in Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Duration: For a minimum of four (4) months or one academic term, or for a period of eight (8) months or two academic terms, in Canada.
  • Inclusions: Visa and/or study/work permit fees, airfare, health insurance, living expenses, ground transportation, books and supplies.
  • Application period: January to March 2021.
